Don't Expect Xbox Series X Games to Look Significantly Better than on PS5, Says Headup Games - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 03 June 2021 / 3,421 ViewsHeadup Games chief technology officer Mark Aldrup in an interview with GamingBolt said not to expect games on the Xbox Series X to look significantly better than the PlayStation 5 version. This includes indie and AAA games.
"For us and most other indie developers this is not going to make any big difference," said Aldrup. "For AAA development studios this might result in a slightly higher performance, but this is also very dependent on other factors than only the theoretical TFLOPS.
"I don’t think that we’re going to see games on Xbox Series X that look significantly better than their PS5 counterparts."

Headup Games recently published Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead for the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android.

I never did.
Well, it is the other way round currently.
There is no game that looks "significantly" better on PS5, so this comment is incorrect. There are a few games with slim advantages at best due to the XSX devkits getting sent out late.
Jeez, the dev kit is just damage control, plenty have refuted this already.
Resolution and FPS differences are small. Won’t stop the internet from bragging about them on both sides however
Mark Cerny is a genius. Overall efficiency wins over brute power. Well played Sony.
Sony gave devs a complete dev kit several months before Xbox did. That’s also a factor.
This dev is saying something for the whole gen, so devkits isn't the reason here.
And yet he seems to have forgotten about keeping the PS5 memory cool, or designing the PS4s with quiet cooling. I always find this notion of him being a genius hilarious!
Cerny isn't a "genius" but he is a damn good engineer with some really solid credentials backed up with a ton of experience.
I certainly won't throw him in the same boat as say... Einstein.
Well, there are many genius between very smart and Einstein.
Einstein wouldn;t have gotten to where he was without others in the field before him.
I don't think Einstein's achievements deserve to be relativized (pun intended). That Einstein wouldn't have gotten to where he was without others in the field before him can apply to almost literally everyone in any given field, including Cerny - whether he's a genius or not, or to what extent. But that doesn't detract from what he or anyone else has accomplished.
We know that, and the first round of comparisons have shown it. Still expect to see Xbox taking a small advantage on resolution in most multiplatforms while PS5 may have some higher detail texture or whatnot due to SSD.
I agree that the XSX will take the overall advantage, but the difference will still be smaller than ever before. I don't think the SSD will provide sharper textures or filtering as time goes, but I can see small advantages to load times as well as any pop in (if it is present on the XSX).
Either way it is a trade off that I am seeing, with no losers. Games and services will be what drives sales for both consoles.
Just had to look up that Publisher and yeah, they're not really anywhere close to other publishers in terms of size or roster of games published. I Would not take a random nobody publisher's word for anything.
You can take the dozen of other devs, even very big, that said the major change for this gen is PS5 SSD, and also from technical reviewers that claim DS is the biggest change.
Normally they would destroy the bridge so the zombies don't follow =p
