So the world should freeze entirely just because some people are yelling in the streets? That's why an event for a console is postponed?? What's the freaking logic in that? People are still having a life and still watch stuffs on TV & PC. Postpone that event is completely and utterly pointless and it accomplishes nothing.
And then suddenly people from the other side who support the protest will said " Sony does not have hearth" . It's difficult for Sony. I am not living in US and the protest does not affecting me at all, but Sony have a lot consumer as well in US . So it's hard for them.
@HollyGamer: US isn't the entire world, Sony biggest fan base should be eu, not us
:( I'm disapointed... Was looking forward to it. I hope they will reschedule it soon enough.
I’m guessing a few games in the show are shooting games and they didn’t want to look insensitive
Yep. Lets stop everything in the world until the looters finish looting and destroying everything. Then we can go back to normal business.
@Hiku: We should delay next-gen until racism and police brutality is finally wiped from this Earth. In fact, let's stop all consumer products being made until we have ended poverty all across the world
might aswell delay last of us2 then, since it involves a pandemic and looters.
Don't give them any ideas.
Knew it, but if they really kept it real the world will never give you a perfect time to have this event because of hoe things always are.
There are some of you that disagree with the delay and Sony should continue with their initial date to allow some positive news in the world as they need so much of it right now. I definitely see your point, but the last thing people/business want to do is to mask over this tragic news with their own news to turn the attention away. This issue has been long overdue and it deserves the attention and time it takes for this to actually get through to those that are turning a blind eye to this.
@V-r0cK: I fully support this. Bigger voices need to be heard. We should delay next-gen until racism and police brutality is finally wiped from this Earth. In fact, let's stop all consumer products being made until we have ended poverty all across the world.
What would make most sense is that sony don't want the protests to take down the hype of their event so they delay it to make sure they have all the attention when the tension will go down, and they make themselves look good with their gospel speeches (like so many other people do). Marketing is an art.
I respect that.
So with all of the doom and gloom going on now around the world we're gonna cancel everything that brings any remote sense of joy. Yeah, makes sense....
I get why they postponed it but I wish they had announced a new date for it at least. I assume they're waiting for the protests to calm down first but I think a lot of people would have taken this news better if they had a new date.
Yeah, I get it. Postpone it. I'd like to remind Sony that in addition to this incident involving idiot cops and a dead man, there's famine and poverty and disease around the world all the time. Genocide and war and whatnot. Might as well postpone indefinitely.
Whilst I am gutted that this has been delayed, as it was about time we finally got to see the PS5 games etc, I completely understand and it was the best choice. If Sony never delayed then they would be criticised of being insensitive and by delaying they are getting the anger of fans so it really was a lose/lose situation but this is by far the better choice.
The games are not going anywhere as we will get our big reveal soon and it will be awesome!
Gee Sony has a pretty inflated view of their self importance to think that showing some video games on the 4th is going to in some way take attention away from the issues in the USA right now. I'm not for a minute underestimating the importance of the issues at play here but stopping a world wide video game event for this reason is a joke...
Called it.
Respect to Sony, I think it's a good and noble reason.
I don't know why you got downvoted. For whatever Sony's reasons were for delaying the even was SMART at the end of the day. Whether it was noble or not.
Let's act like your reaction wouldn't be the complete opposite if they went ahead with the event without postponing.
@Replicant: Are you a Sony white knight? Definitely looks a lot like it
Sounds about right. This is exactly the purpose of video games in society. This move doesn't make any sense, except from a PR sense. PR is important though.
@shikamaru317 - Postponing is clearly the right choice here. Sony would be 100% tone deaf if they went ahead with the event trying to create joy and hype all the while people just outside the conference hall are fighting for significant change. I think we'll survive waiting a little longer for news about a video console.
If they had moved on with the event ignoring the fact that people are fighting for something important just outside the building, I think many people (including you) would be able to see how insensitive dickheads the folks at Sony would be. That's what I mean by saying you'd have the complete opposite reaction. At least I hope you would.
I'm pretty sure they plan to show the new CoD at the event but I guess they could skip that.
Sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope you get on top of it soon!
@Replicant: yeah, we should delay next-gen until racism and police brutality is finally wiped from this Earth. In fact, let's stop all consumer products being made until we have ended poverty all across the world
