Minecraft Dungeons Was Delayed to Ensure A Better End Product - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 10 April 2020 / 3,298 ViewsPublisher Microsoft and developer Mojang announced last week Minecraft Dungeons has been delayed from an April 2020 release to May 26.
Mojang’s executive producer David Nisshagen speaking with Eurogamer in an interview explained why the developer delayed the game by a month. It was to ensure the development team had the time to make the game as good as possible.
"We don't want to stress the teams during this time," said Nisshagen. "We could probably have made [the old date] but that probably felt uncomfortable - partially for the team and also for the players, who we couldn't guarantee would get a good, fun game. So by taking this little extra end time, we'll have a better end product and happier team which can take pride in it."

Here is an overview of the game:

Too bad for them. It would have been great for this game - a favorite of kids - to hit right now, while kids are stuck at home with nothing to do. Parents would happily buy the game to keep the kids occupied.
It'll still be a good time for the game next month. But, I think we'll be a little more back to normal by that point. So, it'll be a little harder to convince mom or dad to buy it.
Things might be a little better by late May, but a lot of people will still be stuck at home. School is still gonna be out. Also, Minecraft can succeed even when the world isn't falling apart.
Can this please be the default norm, so we can get release dates, without knowing what's going on under the good each time?.
Forward planning seems like a forgotten practice in the games industry these days.
If the game is only delayed a month, that's actually not bad compared to games get delayed a year or years. Delays are the norm, but having a release date is part of marketing to get people pre ordering.
I'm glad they admitted it just wasn't ready. Some might just blame the corona virus.
Frankly, I'm surprised there's been so little blaming of the virus in general. Everyone can get a free pass right now if they want one, just say the virus messed up the schedule.
This game actually looks really fun. I am not a huge Minecraft fan but this is gaining my attention.
One month isn't much and good that it also alleviated the crunchy time.
