Microsoft Store Possibly Leaks Darksiders III Release Date - News

The Microsoft Store might have possibly leaked the release date of Darksiders III. The digital store lists the release date for the game as Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Here is an overview of the game:

Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.

Key Features:

  • Play as FURY - a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth!
  • Harness FURY’s magic to unleash her various forms – each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities.
  • Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story.
  • Defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their servants who range from mystical creatures to degenerated beings.
  • Sit in awe of Darksiders signature art style – expansive post-apocalyptic environments that take the player from the heights of heaven to the depths of hell, dilapidated by war and decay and overrun by nature.

Yeah... not excited for this one. As good as the first 2 were, comming off GoW this will feel like a B-release at best. And even without GoW this already looks sub-par. Im not sure how much of Vigil remained at Gunfire, but I have my doubts about them managing to pull this off.

That's a very sad way of looking at games.

It's funny he says that, because I look at SC the way I look at Sony's other releases, which look sub-par to what he thinks looks first class, but at the same time I understand that a game is a game and can look decent to others.

That said I'm still grabbing the game because I liked the first two and I don't need GoW to fill in the space that this franchise has already filled (that and being multiplat helped a lot).

Yeah... Instead of a "sad way" I would call itt a healthy dose of skepticism. THQ Nordic released tons of mediocre to bad games in the last couple of years, but just because they have a decent PR work, everyone is buying into their good and honest gamers to gamers look. I am not. Sony showed me results in the last 4 years and like it or not GoW is simply a very similar game that will more than likely remain vastly superior by the time this releases. By the look of the gameplay trailers even the first two Darksiders will be vastly superior.

If the reviews will come in, and it will be great, sure, Il bite the bullet and buy it, as its a genre that I like. I will eat crow any day instead of looking at yet another mediocre release.

And for anyone caling me superficial and a graphics whore, I just finished Human Resource Machine and I honestly think its one of the best games of the last 3 years, so you can honest to god bite me :-)

I don't really care about Darksiders or who's making or publishing it, actually. I more so meant it's a sad way of thinking about games, because A ) God of War is no longer even very similar to this kind of title and B ) I can tell that you and many other people are going to start looking at actual action games with precaution just because everyone is so obsessed with GOW2018, which essentially means that despite giving "action games" mainstream success, it's also so far removed from other action games that it makes them irrelevant.

Yupp, that is actually what happens when you raise the bar. People start to expect more. Thank god that there are developers who actually push it and we do not have to live constantly in a sea of mediocrity. And yes, I do not wish to play the same game I have played 10 years ago. Darksiders 3 is pushed as a AAA game and I will judge it by todays AAA standards.

This is also true for DMC5 (a franchise I adore) and any other game that falls into the vast action genre.

Who pushes the bar and how far does that bar go exactly?. I'm seeing other devs out there making good games, and they aren't owned or ran by Sony either.

How do you even know DS3 will be exactly the same as DS1 from 10 years go.

Also, if it's pushed as a AAA game, it'll be reviewed like all other games. AAA standards these days are awfully mediocre and low for what detail has been put and what details have been missing for years.

DMC V isn't anything like the current GoW either, so I'm not sure how that is going to "compare".

Hunter_Alien, That's just it though, isn't it? God of War ISN'T better than the top tier action games. Action fans are still going to say DMC3, or Ninja Gaiden Black, or Bayonetta 2 are the best games in the genre. God of War 2018 is just DIFFERENT.

And that's the problem. While God of War 4 has become the biggest game in the genre, it's also a game that allows for almost no cross-pollination, at all. After playing Bayonetta 2 I wanted to play Devil May Cry because I knew the games were similar. After playing Devil May Cry I wanted to play Ninja Gaiden Black because even with their many differences they still had similarities.

You're essentially just pushing an entire game aside because a game that isn't even really that comparable to it anymore is "better". Even though it's hardly comparable. This is what my point has been all along. It's really just kind of sad. I like GoW 2018, I just think it will be disappointing if very few people who play it expand out into other franchises in the genre.

Yeah.I think I got it why we do not understand eachother. I think our deifnition of what is a great action game (or action game in general) is different. While DMC3 is one of my favorite hack n' slash games ever created and I do love games like Ninja Gaiden/Black/Sigma and MGR Revengence (not Bayonettam sorry, I just couldnt get into it) I pretty much think that GoW took the genre in a natural direction that was slowly comming to mainstream action games and thus became objectively the best the genre had ever offered.

In general I believe that the "action" genre is just to vague. I would consider a 3rd person shooter or FPS an acion game as well, while GoW (2018) goes into the HnS/RPG hybrid category, yet still into the general action category.

All in all, I do understand where you are comming from, and I thank you for taking the time to explain it to me (both of you actually) I simply treat the term a bit differently and thus I will rate them fairly similarly even if I know that there are diffrences between them.

Since the developers were too busy watching the world cup, I'm glad Microsoft at least showed us the release date.

Also that's a horrible release date. I'm looking at the fall lineup and it's way too packed.

I thought THQ Nordic confirmed that Darksiders was delayed to 2019

That's like within 4 months and they didn't bother to show up at E3 to at least make more awareness?
