Climax Studios, the UK-based developer, has opened up a new studio in Auckland, New Zealand.

"It was a great opportunity to hire a group of engineers, who were both experienced, talented and are already used to working as a team," said CEO Simon Gardner.

"In addition I have known and worked with Andy for most of my life and he has worked for Climax as a contractor on numerous occasions in the past. The opportunity was just too good to miss."

The studio will be led by Andy Wilton, who will oversee a team of eight. All of them previously worked Gameloft’s New Zealand studio before it was shut down earlier this year.

The studio is focusing on developing augmented reality projects for a large US corporation. Climax did not state who they were working with. The developer hopes to grow the studio over the next year and work on more AR and VR projects.

Thanks Develop.
