Nintendo to Reveal NX Details in 2016, Smartphone Games to Help Propel Profits Up 400% - News

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has outlined his plans for 2016 and stated details on the upcoming console, the NX, will be released sometime this year.

Nintendo also plans to expand its character licensing into movies and anime, and not just to smartphones and them parks.

He added that the release of Nintendo games and apps on smartphones starting this year will help push profits up to 100 billion yen in "several year." That is a 400 percent increase over last year's profits. The first smartphone app, Miitomo, is on schedule to be released in March.

Tell us you're making smart phone games and a year later only have Miimoto to show for it, then expect to quadruple your profits. I think that's a little silly. Here's hoping they've got some Marios and whatnot to reveal soon and that Miimoto was just what they wanted to show first because it was the most "Nintendo-weird".

They probably are going to port Pokemon picross, make a Mario game, and release weird games such as miimoto

Why is anyone even excited about the NX? After the Wii and WiiU Nintendo has lost it's place in gaming excitement.

The mentioned it 10 months ago at an investor meeting I believe was the first time.

I'm officially done with Nintendo. My Wii was boring and my WiiU is even worse. Although if they show a damn Mario trailer, I could give in. Damn him for being my weak spot!

the Wii U is nothing like the Wii in the first place

That's the problem, 100m vs 10m.

For all we know the details they release could could also be a release date for this year, Doesn't rule out a 2016 or 2017 release still all in the air.

Yeah he's being vague there for a reason. I'm not saying it will be released this year, but if it is he certainly doesn't want to say it yet. This is the easiest way to get around that question.
