Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Reaches 3 Million Sold - News

Markus 'Notch' Persson, the creator of Minecraft, has announced via Twitter that the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has passed the three million mark. "I got told Minecraft for XBLA passed three million sales today!"

The game was the fastest selling Xbox Live Arcade game when it first released. Selling one million units in just five days. The game also in less than one month sold more than two million units to become the best selling Xbox Live Arcade game of all time.

Let this be proof that good games will always sell better than gimmicks or graphic boom bang. Let it also be proof that console market is just as viable for more emergent and personal gameplay experiences currently more prominent on PC and doesn't just have to be pre-established genre of games.

I hope this success means they will now create a version for PS3 and maybe even Wii U where it may have the greatest potential to not just reach but also create an audience.

i agrre in most parts accept putting this game on ps3 and wii u,people should stop making there games multiplatform,there are less and less exclusive now adays beouse its all about the money,let it stay on pc and 360,the 360 needs this to be console exclusive

Not to mention it's the 2nd most played game on Xbox (only behind MW3). Impressive game and loads of fun. Happy to see it's doing so well.
