I haven't watched the video as I am at college but your headline is a little misleading. They are starting to charge subscribers but the game isn't going to die. Even if it does it will be reborn when 2.0 is released. Every person who bought the PC copy will be upgraded and given 30 days free again in Nov 2012.
So again maybe you should change it to: The Imminent Death and Rebirth of FFXIV.
