Ubisoft is planning to shut down Trials studio RedLynx and lay off 70 employees at its Ubisoft Singapore studio, the lead developer on Skull and Bones.

"Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions," said Ubisoft in a statement.

"At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization. We deeply value the contributions of both teams and recognize the impact this may have on our colleagues. We are committed to supporting our teams throughout this process and conducting it with care and respect."

Ubisoft acquired RedLynx in 2011 after the success of Trials 2 and Trials HD. It would ship more Trials games until 2019's Trials Fusion. The team would be come a support studio afterwards to help with development on other Ubisoft projects.

RedLynx is currently not assigned to any projects and has no sustainable standalone titles, according to GamesIndustry.

Ubisoft Singapore was founded in 2008 as a support studio and would work on the naval combat sections of the Assassin's Creed franchise. This lead to being the lead developer on the pirate game, Skull and Bones, which was delayed for several years before it finally came out in 2024.

The 70 employees to be laid off at Ubisoft Singapore represents about a fifth of the studios total workforce.
