The EMEAA Preview: 10/15 Edition (Forza Motorsport 4, Just Dance 3) - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 17 October 2011 / 5,453 Views

For the purposes of this article, all data used is preliminary and may differ from final numbers.

First off welcome to the new EMEAA preview. All three regions now have preview data. Forza Motorsport 4 (X360) is the biggest release this week as the game opened up with 280,000 units sold, which is 65,000 more than its predecessor, Forza Motorsport 3. Just Dance 3 (Wii) opened with sales just under 100,000, which 10,000 more than its predecessor, Just Dance 2 (Wii). However don't expect the game to have the same kind of legs.

FIFA Soccer 12 sold about 350,000 across all platforms. Gears of War 3 sold just under 100,000. Rage and Dark Souls saw large drops of more than 50%.

Hardware sales are up slightly across the board as the holiday period is about to kick in; however the Xbox 360 had a slightly bigger boost due to the release of Forza Motorsport 4 (X360).

At least Forza 4 looks like it is more popular in EMEAA than Forza 3 was.

Wow..I thought maybe Forza would get some larger sales. Obviously not GT5'esque but still

One point for Forza, Forza 4 released at the end of the week, where Forza 3 released at the start. I would not be surprised if FM3 sold 25% better overall in EMEAA. Top Gear really helped.

How did Just Dance 3 do for 360?

Some regions would be hard to track. VGC often make adjustments to game sales in EMEAA, when you do that with Pre-orders, it shows.

However a Japanese pre-order chart should happen. They track pre-orders there anyway and tell us some figures in the previews. Why not just make a table?
