Golden Joystick 2011 Nominees Announced - Vote Now! - News

Voting is now open for the Gamesmaster Golden Joystick Awards 2011 after the nominees were announced by Future Publishing. The awards, presented by Alienware, are set to take place in London at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza  on the 21st October. There are 14 catergories, ranging from the prestigous 'Ultimate Game of the Year' (speaks for itself) to the usual sports and shooter awards, whilst there are new categories for mobile, downloadable and free-to-play games.

I don't get how GJ's system works, why are 2010 games on their lists? and why don't they wait until the end of the year? how can I vote for GOTY while Uncharted 3 and Skyrim, 2 of the biggest contenders are not even released?
