Konami Profits $51.5m in the June 2011 Quarter - News

Financial results for Konami have arrived for the June 2011 quarter. Konami revenue reached 54.92b Yen ($699m) for the quarter, while profit came to 4.043b Yen ($51.5m). These results were essentially in line with expectations, so Konami still expects fiscal year revenue to reach 258b Yen ($3.28b) while profit is projected to reach 14b Yen ($178.3m). In the previous June quarter, Konami revenues were about 1b Yen less, but profit was less than a third of June 2011 levels (1.265b Yen).
Konami game shipments for the June 2011 quarter fell to 2.76m from 4.62m. Of those titles, Konami says:
- 750,000 were soccer games, 470,000 were baseball games, 250,000 were music games, 190,000 were TV Animated games, 160,000 were Metal Gear games, and the remaning 940,000 games fell into other genres. Declines in soccer and Metal Gear genres led to most of the decline against the June 2010 quarter
- Konami shipped 690,000 PS3 & PSP games for the quarter, along with 414,000 DS games, 386,400 Wii games, 220,800 X360 games, 193,200 3DS games, 165,600 PS2 games, and 27,600 PC games.
- In the previous June quarter, Konami shipped 1.848m PSP games, 831,600 DS games, 785,400 PS3 games, 508,200 Wii games, 415,800 PS2 games, 138,600 X360 games, and 92,400 PC games. Given the two sets of data, PSP, PS3, Wii, DS, PS2 and PC software all declined while X360 (Kinect) and 3DS (from nothing) grew year over year.
Konami expects Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater (3DS), New Love Plus (3DS), Never Dead (X360 / PS3, Silent Hill (X360 / PS3), Metal Gear Solid HD (X360 / PS3), Winning Eleven (Multi), DDR (Wii), and Karaoke Revolution (Wii) to be its major titles for the remainder of the fiscal year.

I'm looking forward to the Silent Hill Collection too. I always hear jokes about Konami's E3 conference last year, but I loved their conference this year, there was even a 30 minute section with Kojima only, and what he showed was stunning.
