Overview
There is one game in the top 20 to be in its final week before launch, inFamous 2 (PS3). The top five games include Gears of War 3 (X360), inFamous 2 (PS3), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360), Duke Nukem Forever (X360), and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii). The top six games have 100,000 or more pre-orders. Three games add 50,000 or more pre-orders, five add 20,000 or more and ten add 10,000 or more pre-orders.
Games in final week before launch
InFamous 2 (PS3) in its final week before launch is at number two. It adds 51,000 pre-orders, up from 35,000 the previous week for a grand total of 185,000. Expect first week sales in America to be in the 275,000 to 375,000 unit range.
Other Hot Games
Duke Nukem Forever for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 add a combined 33,000 pre-orders for a combined total of 207,000 pre-orders. The game is currently two weeks away from launch. The Xbox 360 version is at number four as it adds 22,000 pre-orders, up from 17,000 last week, for a current total of 135,000. The PlayStation 3 version moves up two spots to number 12 as it adds 11,000 pre-orders, up from 8,000 last week, for a current total of 72,000.
Gears of War 3 (X360) is currently the most pre-ordered game in America and will most likely remain at the top, though with how quickly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is gaining that might change near release on 16 weeks. The game adds 42,000 pre-orders down from 54,000 the previous week. The game currently sits at 820,000 pre-orders. To put this into perspective of how big these pre-orders are, Halo: Reach, which has the record for biggest opening for a home console exclusive, did not reach this number of pre-orders until it was between seven and six weeks before release. It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks how many pre-orders Gears of War 3 can rack up in the coming weeks.
Also in the top 10: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) is up five spots to number three, as it adds more per-orders than any other game this week. The game adds 71,000 pre-orders, up from 67,000 pre-orders the previous week. The game currently has 158,000 pre-orders and is 23 weeks away from launch.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) is down two spots to number five. It adds 3,000 pre-orders, the same as last week. The game currently sits at 116,000 pre-orders and currently has no release date in America.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (X360) is at number six as it adds 3,000 pre-orders, the same as last week, for a total of 101,000. The game has no release date in America.
Battlefield 3 (X360) jumps up two spots to number seven as it adds 16,000 pre-orders, up from 13,000 last week, for a total of 99,000. The game currently has no release date in America.
Metal Fight Beyblade (DS) is down three spots number eight as it adds just 612 pre-orders this week, which brings it to a total of 99,000 pre-orders. The game has no release date in America.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) jumps into the top ten at number nine, just one week behind the Xbox 360 version. The game adds 53,000 pre-orders this week, only behind the Xbox 360 version, for the second most pre-orders added this week. The game is currently at 91,000 pre-orders and will launch in 23 weeks.
Diablo III (PC) is down three spots to number ten as it adds 2,000 pre-orders, the same as last week, for a total of 91,000. The game currently has no release date in America.
Notable mentions outside the top 10: Battlefield 3 (PS3) is at number 16 with 11,000 new pre-orders this week for a total of 66,000. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is up one spot to number 187. It adds 15,000 pre-orders this week for a total of 66,000.
As an extra to non-pro members here are a few games outside the top 20. Rage (X360) adds 7,000 pre-orders for a total of 52,000. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (PC) adds 12,000 pre-orders for a total of 31,000. Twisted Metal (PS3) adds 2,000 pre-orders for a total of 2,000.
