Earnings Release Calendar for the March 2011 Quarter - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 22 April 2011 / 3,954 Views

Video game companies are set to reveal their financial performances for the quarter ending March 2011 in the coming weeks. The data will also include performance totals for the year ending March 2011 for many companies. In most cases forecasts for the March 2012 year will be issued as well. Not all companies end their fiscal years in March though - Microsoft's year ends in June and a few other fiscal years end in months other than March or June.

In any case, here is when data should be arriving for major publishers based on their own information:

Nintendo - April 25, 2011 Tied to stock market in Japan - so early in the morning on the East Coast of the USA. Iwata has a presentation of the results the next day, although it may not be translated immediately.

Microsoft - April 28, 2011 Results come around  5 PM east coast time in the USA - they will be out once the stock market closes.

THQ - May 3, 2011  Figures should be fairly good on Udraw in Europe and Homefront throughout the western markets.

Electronic Arts - May 4, 2011 Results come around 5 PM east coast time in the USA (as will all American publisher results).

Capcom - May 6, 2011 Capcom will have a presentation on results on May 10 after announcing them.

Namco-Bandai - May 7,2011 As with Nintendo, all Japanese results will arrive early in morning in the USA.

Activision-Blizzard - May 9, 2011  Call of Duty profit was deferred last quarter, profits will be quite large.

Konami - May 12, 2011 Konami, in addition to making games for dedicated game machines, has Arcade and gambling operations and so as with Sony, Sega, and a few other companies making hardware, the Japanese disasters may be delaying results a bit.

Ubisoft - May 12, 2011 Ubisoft is based in France, so the results are typically in a little later than the other USA-based publishers.

Sega-Sammy - May 13, 2011. Sammy has Panchiko operations, so results may be below expectations if some of those machines were damaged in the Japanese disasters.

Square-Enix - May 13, 2011. Square-Enix announces & presents its results on May 13, 2011.

Sony - May 26, 2011   This is not a typo for timing - Sony has had some serious issues to contend with in the wake of Japan's disasters and is likely trying to account for what was lost in its massive inventory facilities, as well as when to pay for expenses to fix factories and other expensive problems that have popped up lately. Sony had previously announced that PS3 shipments topped 50 million on March 29, 2011, which suggested a slight miss (5%) of the 15m target for the year. Earlier in the quarter Sony had announced PS2 shipments topped 150 million through January 2011.

Take Two has also recently switched to quarters ending in March, June, September, and December, but the company has yet to announce when its next earnings briefing will be.

Most of the results are coming in May, but updated figures are coming next week for Nintendo & Microsoft. Look for a brief preview of the big three results in the next couple of days.
