Gears of War 3 will be arriving this Fall for the 360. To say it's a big game for Microsoft is an understatement since it's one of the very few exclusives Xbox 360 has this year. This means you won't be able to play it unless you have an Xbox 360...or will you?
Speaking to industrygamers, Epic President Mike Capps was asked if would like the Gears franchise to appear on Sony's console. His reply? "Do we wish we could take all those Killzone [players] and Resistance fans on PS3, and get them to say 'Gears is awesome'? Yeah, sure I'd love to ship the Gears trilogy on PlayStation. That would be fun. I want to be there; I want to be everywhere,"
Having said that, Capps as also acknowledges that Microsoft has been extremely helpful with the Gears franchise. "I don't regret what we're doing with Microsoft. They make it worthwhile all the time," he added.
So will the Gears of War franchise ever grace the PS3? Capps wouldn't say, in case you thought it was because of Microsoft owning/co-owning the IP, think again. "We definitely own Gears of War. This is our franchise, our IP," so the possibility is still there. Before Xbox 360 fans freak out he was also quick to add that "Time and time again, when it came down to figure out what we do next with Gears, we sat down with Microsoft and they've given us really good, compelling reasons to work with them again."
Aside from Halo, the Gears franchise is arguably the biggest 360 exclusive there is. So, Xbox 360 fans, will you be happy if this ever comes to fruition or would you rather it be kept as a platform exclusive to "preserve its integrity" as some people say.
