Xbox CEO Says They Will 'Continue to Create Enduring New IP' - News

Xbox has doubled down on its biggest IPs and appears to be moving away from new IPs, especially with it spinning off Double Fine, Compulsion Games, and other studios. However, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma at an Xbox Town Hall said they will continue to release new IPs.

"We're backing our strongest franchises," said Sharma (via Windows Central). "I want our great games to become great global billion-dollar franchises. I would also like to see us continue to create enduring new IP. We will not survive if we only revive on the past. We have to find new ways, and courage, to have invention on new IP, that reaches new sets of audiences."

A bigger focus has been put on the Fallout franchise with Obsidian Entertainment put under the Bethesda umbrella and is now working on a new Fallout game. Remasters for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are also in development, while Fallout 5 is in pre-production as Bethesda is currently focused on The Elder Scrolls VI.

Sharma also mentioned the opportunities to grow King and the casual gaming segment in general, along with simplifying its studio structures with moving the Halo IP and Rare under Activision.

She did hint that more "simplification" could be on the way, but did not state exactly what that means. It could be other studios moving under Activision or Bethesda.

Lol. Beyond the already announced Clockwork Revolution, I'll believe it when I see it.
You can't create new IPs when you shut or sell off all your studios.

We'll see if InXile still exists a year after the release of Clockwork Revolution.

Indeed. It doesn’t seem like the sort of game that is going to have massive sales, so inXile could well be in line for closure once its released.
Even TheCoalition is probably sweating now E-Day is out. Its seem to reviewed well so thats hopefully. I’ve seen some complaints in some corners of the internet but the reception seems to have been positive overall. But ill that be enough?
