Resident Evil Film Studio Acquires Rights To Devil May Cry Film

Screen Gems, the studio that brought us the money-making-yet-not-well-received-critically Resident Evil film franchise is set to do it again with another beloved Capcom property: Devil May Cry. According to a Variety exclusive, they have just acquired the rights to bring Dante to the big screen. Seems like a logical next step for a franchise that has bred an anime, action figures, comics, and pretty much everything else under the sun.

The script is being written by Kyle Ward, who most recently wrote the upcoming Universal picture Fiasco Heights. According to IMDB.com, he is also writing the upcoming Kane & Lynch movie. That's a lot of vidya games on the big screen.

The question remains: will Screen Gems' film feature old Dante, or new Dante?

why are video games adaption always given to shit studios and directors, if zack syder directed this i'm sure it'll be great but seeing as its the same studio that is responsible for resident evil they'll probably pick the worst director they can find!

Oh god please let them choose old dante. Im still trying to gulp down the new DmC design the formula for a movie is set in 1 & 3, troubled past with father and brother that fights Dante constantly. Hopefully they capture the essence of Dante well both in writing and actor
