The Ultimate Gran Turismo Wheel is the Price of Two PS3s
by Chris Arnone, posted on 23 December 2010 / 3,013 ViewsA couple weeks ago, we showed you some initial images of the upcoming Thrustmaster T500 RS. While it may sound like some kind of porno-meets-Terminator mashup, in actuality it is to be the ultimate racing wheel for Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5.
Earlier today, Thrustmaster released a press release detailing all the specs on the upcoming wheel, a slew of pictures, and dropped the price bomb on us. Come January 5 in North America and Europe and January 25 in Japan, the Thrustmaster T500 RS will set you back $599.99. Literally the cost of 2 Playstation 3's or 10 copies of GT5 and that's without the separately sold gearshift, of which no mention was made.
Start saving your pennies now. Here's some pictures to get you revved up:

if you think this new thrustmaster wheel is stupid just checkout the settings in GT5 apparently the thrustmaster wheel is spelt tthrustmaster and no i diddnt accidently put 2 t's there thats how its spelt in the game lmfao is there nothing polyphony can sort out without making complete tit's of them selfs and still no update to fix those crappy shadows out.
oh and for the record just watch SRT on youtube for reviews on gaming wheels. heres a link: http://www.youtube.com/user/simracingtonight
sorry but no matter how much this wheel costs ill stick with my driving force GT wheel, ive had a thrustmaster wheel before and ill never purchase anything made by thrustmaster again, if anyone can find a wheel made by logitech thats as bad as the thrustmaster ferrari wheel feel free to try as i can easily say logitech dont make shitty products to make there quality product look better.
i would call the logitech at 300 mid range, the 100 dollar wheels low range and anything over 300-400 is higher range.... a wheel where the pedals are 600-1000 i would put into a "Extremely high range" category... just because there is a wheel that is insanely expensive, doesnt automatically mean that one thats half the price is only mid range....
ECCI force feedback wheel only cost around $2600. There are pedals that runs around $600-$1000 so this wheel and pedal combo is still mid-range.
Why haven't announce that people will take a 2 second job to buy this wheel... and a 3rd one to buy the shifter...
This wheel isn't for the average gamers. There is already a cheap GT5 wheel on the market. This is aim more toward a hardcore sim racer.
i think they made this wheel for the NBA players, the NFL players, the Baseball players.
I can imagine how they announced it: "And this wheel will retail for FIVE HUNDRED NINETY-NINE US DOLLARS"
I just hope for that price they used better materials than in their utterly crappy entry level wheel...
I would buy it if it was called *** Xtreme Thrustmaster T2000 RSX *** Now it just sounds too average, its all the Xtreme and bigger number.
That is hardcore...Thrustmaster T500 RS...how does it get any more ridiculous?
I'm good with just using the normal PS3 controller. So is my wallet.
errr logitech g25/27 kthx? what a joke 600 and it doesnt even include the shifter?
I think this is a little to pricey for me.... I love gt but theres just no way im sending this much
