Yakuza 4 Will Get Fewer Cuts than Yakuza 3 Did

Were you one of the many fans upset at how much content was cut from the western localisation of SEGA's Yakuza 3? If you were, then good news for you, as SEGA have stated that the upcoming western release of Yakuza 4 will see fewer cuts.

SEGA community manager Aaron Webber said, when speaking to Kotaku, that our version of Yakuza 4 will keep hostess clubs and the hostesses within them will be back, and so will Mahjong and all of the game's sidequests.

One part of the game will be getting the axe, though, and that is the interactive japanese trivia show Answer X Answer, and not because of it being too Japanese for western audiences, but because of its 16-bit graphics. According to SEGA, the amount of work it would take to rework the text for the mini-game would be so substantial that the game would miss its Spring 2011 release date, which feels like its more important than a single mini-game, said Webber.

Yakuza 4 has been out in Japan since March, and will be seeing its release on western shores shortly.

@edrigo Yeah you should get it. While you don't need to play Yakuza 1 to enjoy 2, or 2 to enjoy 3, it really helps as you'll know more characters, you'll know their pasts together, etc. I'm sure it's the same thing with Yakuza 4. - Anyways, I expected people to still bi*** about Answer x Answer getting cut. Not because of any of you wanted it, you just want something to complain about. I mean seriously. I guarantee that most people won't know any of these answers and it will be nothing more than some serious trial and error how many different questions are in there. So in order to get the trophy everyone, guaranteed, would have Gamefaqs open with all the answers ready. I'm glad it's taken out. I wouldn't have minded if they removed Mahjong and Shogi again as they're in Yakuza 2 and they're two games I'm really not a fan of, but it also is nice they decided to leave them in as well. I've had the game preordered for months. So let's hope that Sega also releases Yakuza of the End and Black Panther.
