by Alex St-Amour, posted on 29 September 2010 / 3,125 ViewsLast week word of a new Wii Remote with built in Motion Plus accelerometers was leaked on the internet. Nintendo has now confirmed that the Wii Remote Plus is real and will come in the four standard Wii Remote colors: white, black, pink and blue.

No launch date has been announced, but stay tuned to gamrFeed as more news from Nintendo Conference 2010 is released.

So... after an install base of 74 million systems, they release a new controller that might become a standard. Sucks people have to buy new controllers now.
@ d21lewis - depends on if they changed the size of the wii-mote. it looks a bit longer than the standard wii-mote but it's pretty hard to tell anything absolute from that picture.
I'm sure it's 100% compatible with all former peripherals (other than the Motion Plus add on of course). I saw this coming shortly after Motion Plus was introduced; one less SKU to produce/ship and developers will theoretically take a look at the potentially larger installed user base for Motion Plus and use it in more games.
It wouldn't surprise me if they ship this with some version of the new Zelda.
This is not the Wii Motion+ add-on that you have to stick on the end of your Wii Remote. It's a Wii Remote with WM+ built-into it. So you don't need the separate WM+ accessory. "Simulacrum 1 hour ago Wii remote plus? I thought it was release last year?:
Probably about time they did this. Need to have motionplus become the std controller so more developers will use it.
@Canyarion - Greenpeace hate Nintendo for not playing ball (aka not letting another company become privy to their private information), not because their practices are wasteful. If anything, the Wii is the least wasteful console over all regardless of add-ons, but they get a very low grade because they refuse to talk about their manufacturing costs to others. Even before the "protective rubbers" Nintendo got the lowest grade possible despite having the most ecologically "safe" console overall. Greenpeace doesn't care about the environment nearly as much as the power they have over corporations. Anyone that will kowtow to them gets a better grade than a company that does more for the environment that won't kowtow. It's like like rating women based on how good they are at oral and giving the worst grade possible for not doing it. Sure, the abstainer is probably more moral than those who don't (like in this situation), but there's no need to acknowledge them for that if your **** goes dry for a night.
So this should fit into the old protective rubber, right? Hm, it will come with a new rubber anyway. Greenpeace is going to looove that...
I know some people that don't have four remotes so I'm happy to buy one of each color and pass off my old remotes to those relatives in need. ;-) Shorter remote with new cover would make me very happy.
