Final Fantasy XIII will finally arrive to Xbox 360 in Japan this year. The game will be coming December 16, priced at ¥4,980 (US$59), a budget price for a Final Fantasy game, the PS3 version had a price of ¥9,240 at its release last December.

The game will be christened Final Fantasy Ultimate Hits International and will feature a new "Easy Mode" as well as an English voice option. Subtitles will be freely selectable between Japanese, English and European languages. The theme song will be the overseas "My Hands" song from Leona Lewis. This will be the first Xbox 360 entry in Square Enix's Ultimate Hits budget line.

In an interview in this week's Famitsu, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that the game will appear in playable form at next week's Tokyo Game Show.

Why even bother? Xbox360 has sold a bit over a million in Japan. The Japanese dudes bought a PS3 for it. Selling a niche version to a niche audience too late. The extras won't really entice a big audience, that's for sure. Add the reduced revenue and I start wondering whether it's really worth the whole deal.

This should actually do decently, considering the PS3 sales of the game and the popularity of JRPGs on the 360 in Japan. I like to imagine that on Japanese gaming websites, 360 fans are telling PS3 fans how they got to play the "prototype" of the real game. Meanwhile, the Wii and Nintendo fans barely even notice that either of those two groups are there...

50,000 sales at most. Anything for the money, eh Square Enix?

Typo in the first sentence (Final Fantasy XII instead of XIII) Otherwise I suppose this is pretty good news. Better late than never.
