Wow, Diablo 2 is number 20 on the list, and it doesn't even have a release date!

Looks like Halo Reach is going to Top MW2 on 360...as I said last year on MW2's launch...Halo reach is going to top 6 million in week one, and the week's launch of the Halo Reach Console is going to probably sellout in alot of locations. Xbox is going to dominate on the softare charts this holiday season unlike any other imho.

@lyrik: are you honestly saying you truly believe 1-2.5 million lifetime sales for Gran Turismo 5? The $40 demo (prologue) that doesn't even have jack crap according to the official website has already sold 5 million (or really close to) copies. Gran Turismo is one of those games that has absolutely insane legs. It isn't going to sell like a CoD game, where it has massive sales the first couple of weeks and then slows down relatively quickly. It will have moderate sales in the 1st couple of weeks and then just keep going and going and going until the ps3 is done. GT4 Prologue had like 1.5 million sales. Lets see, 1.5 million sales vs 5 million for GT5 prologue. I'm thinking lifetime sales will be 10.0-14.0 million. As a ps3 owner myself, I'm really not that interested in the GT games (despite having both the previous ones) because they take way too long. I'm more interested in the other racing types of games. But, I may still get it a couple years down the road.

@ Teo

Don't hold your breath. FPS games are going to be around a long and glorious time. Of course the existence of FPS games shouldn't stop you from enjoying other genres. Just look at that preorder list. The majority of games are NOT FPS games. Just because the top ones are FPS doesn't effect the quality of the games that are not. You're not being denied non-FPS games so why should everyone be denied the FPS games they lost just because you don't?

I can't wait for the FPS fans to disappear so that companies can move forward and concentrate on making games I like.

Sony didn't start the marketing campaign for GT5 yet , relax people. -_-

@ Serious_frusting "Everyone i ahve told about GT5 doesnmt even know its comming out this year"

It's probably because they don't care that much about GT anymore. With so many high quality racing sims available like Forza 3, Dirt 2, NFS Shift, etc. people don't feel the need to check on the status of GT5's release time.

Do people know GT5 is comming out soon?

I also question just how successful will Medal of Honor be .... I mean it's preorders are just below Black Ops which is incredible.

Hope Metroid Other M picks it up. It would be nice to see a Metroid Game sell over 2 million for the first time since the original Metroid Prime 1 game. The sales of the Metroid franchise never live up to the quality of the actual games.

I sure hope Halo Reach outsells MW2!

Lyrikalstylez (on 16 August 2010)

Just as I suspected, GT5 wont be this blockbuster hit some people constantly think will be
I mean it will sell well but in my opinion 1-2.5 million life-time is obvious
O and I sure hope Halo:Reach beats MW2 in first week sales, cuze I hate COD :-)

Can't understand low pre-orders for GT5. I don't have a PS3 but still consider it the definitive racing game. The demos have been fantastic. Maybe Sony just need to advertise it more to build the hype. I still expect it to sell massively in Europe at least. How is Halo:Reach doing compared to pre-orders for Halo 3?

  • 0
kain_kusanagi (on 16 August 2010)

Halo Reach is doing insanely well, so is Black Ops. GT5 could be doing a lot better, but I guess racing sims just aren't as popular as they used to be. Plus GT has more competition than when it was the only game of it's kind. Forza, Dirt, Shift, etc. have split the market. Halo is still the only place for Halo, but you can play several different racing sims and get the same experience.

GT5 is going to be the most pre-ordered racer this gen. Why are people so down about it's numbers?

Sports Champs isn't the sole indicator of Move pre-orders because EYEpet is also a Move game, though you can play it without Move. So a substantial number of EYEpet buyers will also buy MOVE. Sports Champs may be an indicator of Move bundle pre-orders. But we don't know whether the Sports Champs pre-orders on this chart include Move bundle or is stand alone game only. Some people who have the PS Eye already will buy Sports Champ as a stand alone title and pick up a Move controller (or 2) at the same time). Other people will be buying the Move edition of Heavy Rain and picking up a Move controller, and others will be downloading the Heavy Rain Move patch and picking up a move controller (me).

NB. Still don't like "Move" as a name for the controller, I liked one of the rumoured names better, can't remember which now but certainly wasn't "Gem". For attracting the kiddies Wand would have been a better choice.

and yes i am aware cod is for ps3 too before anyone rants about that

  • 0
cloud1161 (on 16 August 2010)

hey, i think gran turismo 5 is doing pretty well for a racer. im not a big racer gamer but i think i might get it. i mean it still has 12 weeks before it comes out and i really dont think any other racer has had per-orders remotely close. you cant really compare gt5 to games like halo and cod cuz for one shooters are the only thing xbox has going for it, two xbox advertises the hell out of its games, and three these games are aimed at different types of audiences. lastly, just because a game sells more copies than another doesnt mean its better, it simply means it sells more copies.

Dead Space 2 doing pretty nice.Whats that Spider Man game?Haven't even heard...Fallout suprised me..
Kingdom hearts doing pretty good for PSP game. Was it that it won't be released on Psn, that might explain why its even that high there, when comparing to Mgs peace walker?
Poor Gt5.Maybe people think it get pushed to 2011 even with release date..?Wouldn't be suprised at all.
