PlayStation Plus Launch Content Revealed (Europe)

by Arthur Kabrick, posted on 23 June 2010 / 2,220 Views

PlayStation Plus was announced at Sony's E3 Conference, and slated for a 29th June launch.

Included:

  • One free downloadable game
  • Two free PS Minis
  • One free PS1 Classic.

These will all be yours for the duration of the subscription: after this ends, they lock. If you renew the subscription, they unlock. If you delete them and renew your subscription, you can re-download them at any point.

Discounts- 20-50%

Any content you buy with these discounts is yours to keep. You can subscribe for a month, and in five years, you will still be able to play the content.

Free Content

  • Two dynamic themes
  • Two premium avatars
  • Game Add-Ons

This is all yours to keep forever.

Two full game trials

These are yours to keep. You can play each game for 60 minutes, before it locks. You can then delete the game (and, presumably, redownload it if you wish, but you will have to start again) or purchase the full version and keep playing from the end of that 60 minutes with all trophies you have earned unlocked.

Automatic Download.

It should be stressed that this is optional. Users can set their PS3 to "wake up" from standby and update all games "that you have been playing" and system firmware, before returning to standby. You may also receive demos by this method. When you next manually turn on your PS3, it will show you what has been downloaded.

halil23 (on 24 June 2010)

Thank you jkudlacz for clearing up those misinformed... Anywho, the only game that I got from the list is Mushroom Wars. So no big lost for me. :-D Definitely gonna get this! :-) LBP & Wipeout HD!! Good start! 8-)

NudeGazelle (on 24 June 2010)

Silver-Tiger, you don't get to keep them though :/

Silver-Tiger (on 24 June 2010)

" * One free downloadable game * Two free PS Minis * One free PS1 Classic." Every month?! That alone is worth 50 bucks.

Cthulhu (on 24 June 2010)

Excellent, count me in. And Wipeout HD!!

Xbbjf9s (on 23 June 2010)

I have infamous already and all kz2 dlc but these are just the first three months, who knows what will be after that...I'm gonna get a full year.

realill (on 23 June 2010)

Also will full game trial stay in PSN+ after month it apeared is over? Would PSN-vanila users be able to buy it wihtout trial?

realill (on 23 June 2010)

What does push demo means?

Prashakar (on 23 June 2010)

That is what is says on the Playstation Blog Europe. It says it somewhere in the comments. The person that posted on the blog wrote it himself. Although this limited time offer is only for the Europe users. Read all the comments posted by James Thorpe (he is the moderator or something). He says it will be a PS3 version of LBP. He writes that somewhere towards the middle of the comments section. Heres the link to the post: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/06/15/playstation-plus-check-out-what-its-all-about/comment-page-7/#comments

Prashakar (on 23 June 2010)

By the way the Little Big Planet is the PS3 version.

jkudlacz (on 23 June 2010)

First 3 comments pointless. You are getting great value for $50 bucks. You will be able to get Full Game downloaded to your console try it for 60 min then buy it if you want. You are getting LBP, plus DLCs, Free PSone game as well as WipeoutHD. All those items together are worth at least $50 bucks and after that you will still have 14 months of subscription left (Yes that is because you are getting 3 months free) so you pay for 12 months and getting extra 3, and if those items are give to you first month you can expect something similar each month after that. How is that a bad deal, how can you say you are not interested anymore, yeah yeah, you will get your cross game chat also (btw some games already have it) Wow you will not let sony tell you what games you are getting for Free, you don't have to, all you need to do is buy what you want.

iWarMachine (on 23 June 2010)

looks great IMO. i don't have any of those things. so i'm happy with it! xD

Chairman-Mao (on 23 June 2010)

Mediocre at best. Not even close to worth $50/year. I'd buy it if cross game chat and 1 hour free trials for ALL games were part of it.

Ajescent (on 23 June 2010)

Was interested but not anymore...

kain_kusanagi (on 23 June 2010)

No thank you. I'm not going to pay to let Sony tell me what games I can have for "free".

Serious_frusting (on 23 June 2010)

cool

geddesmond2 (on 23 June 2010)

Man PS Plus has nothing for me. I already own all of the games they said they where giving away except for the Mini titles and I own the games they are discounting and the DLC they are giving aswel. Plus that automatic update thing doesn't sound great. Theres already an automatic shutdown on the consol so whenever I'm Downloading something I start it before I go to bed or ain't playing the PS3 and set the shutdown for 3 hours. I don't have to pay for that feature

binary solo (on 23 June 2010)

Why would a subscription network service offer a hardware guarantee? Re full game trials: InFamous?? I already own it, so no biggie for me, but seriously that's a helluva lot of game to download. It is tempting. For $90 per year to get access to those 4 "free" games per month there's a very good chance I'll get >$90 value out of the subscription. Question is, do I really NEED to accumulate that many games. I already game for more hours in the week than I really should. I don't think I'll be signing up for this right away, but I'm a definite maybe in future.

radha (on 23 June 2010)

??? x game voice chat? where is it ? what happen?

cmeese47 (on 23 June 2010)

Looks pretty good to me. I don't mind the games listed they seem pretty decent considering the price. Nice to see the good bonus for PSP users.

superchunk (on 23 June 2010)

@Kantor, it was rumored when the service was initially rumored. It was a huge benefit and would have made me buy it. But, I don't really care for this additional content at that yearly price.

Tuganuno (on 23 June 2010)

I already have LBP, Wipeout HD and the expansion, Fat Princess and inFamous. I guess it's a a great opportunity for the ones who've bought a PS3 recently. I was expecting to chose the games in which I want to use my discount... Oh well, will be better on Septemeber.

Zkuq (on 23 June 2010)

15€ for free LBP plus some other free stuff, as well as access to a few games for three months? I think I'm in for the first three months at least.

kitler53 (on 23 June 2010)

wow, while the automatic updates are very interesting the content is not. i either already own it or don't want to own it. i will definitely need more of something to tempt me 'cause automatic download isn't worth $50 a year.

poroporo (on 23 June 2010)

It's not like the PS3's failure rate is high, so it'd be a pretty useless feature.

KylieDog (on 23 June 2010)

What a waste, I already own a bunch of the content it offers the first two months anyway, I'd be paying for very little benefit.

Kantor (on 23 June 2010)

@Superchunk: You expected them to include a $50 warranty in a $50 service?

superchunk (on 23 June 2010)

So, nothing about extending warranties in the PS3? No deal.
