3DS vs PSP VGChartz Gap Charts December 2017 Update - Sales

The VGChartz Gap charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

 

3DS Vs. PSP Global:

Gap change in latest month: 1,383,304 – 3DS

Gap change over last 12 months: 2,199,096 – PSP

Total Lead: 416,390 – PSP

3DS Total Sales: 70,966,579

PSP Total Sales: 71,382,969

In the latest month the gap shrunk by 1.38 million units in favor of the 3DS and by 2.20 million units in favor of the PSP in the last 12 months. The PSP currently leads by 416,390 units.

An important note is that the two handhelds launched at different times of the year. The PSP first launched in December 2004, while the 3DS launched in February 2011. The 3DS has sold 70.97 million units, while the PSP sold 71.38 million units.

Less than 10 million away from PSP total. If Nintendo keeps it on the market for a couple more years as a budget friendly alternative to Switch than it has a real shot of winning or at least coming extremely close.

This is getting intense :O PSP will win but by a very small margin
