Pokkén Tournament Trademark Registered in Europe, Amiibos Hinted - News

by Craig S , posted on 20 August 2015 / 3,731 Views

A trademark has been registered for Pokkén Tournament in Europe.

Unsurprisingly, the trademark was filed by The Pokemon Company under computer and video games, but the trademark registration also mentions NFC-related functionality and figurines - an obvious tell that Pokkén Amiibo and Amiibo functionality is likely in the works.

Pokkén Tournament is currently only available in Japanese arcades, and although a location test is planned for North America we're still none the wiser as to whether Nintendo and Bandai Namco plan on bringing the game to Nintendo platforms in the near future.

If Pokemon amiibo are in the works, that pretty much confirms a release on the Wii U or NX (if it supports it, which I'm sure it will)
