Handheld Steam Machine Coming Next Year for $299 - News

The Smach Zero will be available for pre-order starting November 10th for $299. However, the price of the handheld will increase once it is actually released.
The device, which was previously known as the Steam Boy, has 4GB of RAM, a 720p touchscreen, HDMI output, Bluetooth, and Wifi. It will also have 32GB of internal storage and runs Valve's SteamOS.

Combined with HDMI output this could be a very interesting product.
Too anemic to play many of the recent (that is, last five years or so) big titles in the Steam library, too expensive to buy just for the small handheldish type games. This won't end well.
That seems too pricey for a portable gaming system... and it will need more storage. If its compatible with flash cards then it may be ok, but still pricey
Let's see what the games look like. It's priced really well so if they're good I'd bite.

I mean it's cool and all, but I don't know many people that would pay $300 for a handheld...look at what the Vita tried to do with their idea...

But how will you be able to play the games on the go?
Mobile processors are pretty impressive now. 4GB of RAM means it's no slouch either. It could be surprisingly powerful. But the killer here for me is that it'll stream decently from my PC to the bedroom.
With 32GB internal storage, this is probably a streaming device.
With 32gb of HDD.. probable will let download some indies...
