Rumor: Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Coming to the Xbox One - News

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC. However, the game is not available for the Xbox One, yet.

The game's director and producer Naoki Yoshida in an interview with Dualshockers last August stated that he is ready to make an Xbox One version. However, he stated that he would not release the game for the Xbox One until Microsoft allowed cross platform play.

With the announcement that Fable Legends will feature cross platform play, it is now possible the game will be released for the Xbox One. Yoshida at the Tokaigi Japan Game Party held up an Xbox One controller hinting the game would come out for the Xbox One, according to Attack of the Fanboy.

Don't be mistaken! Fable Legends will be crossplatform play between PC and Xbone. This does not mean it'll be crossplatform play with PlayStation consoles.. Yoshida wants crossplatform play with PS3, PS4, Xbone and PC. Not PC and Xbone only. Sorry try again.

I doubt that's going to happen. Yoshida has said over and over again that he won't split the playerbase, and sure, Microsoft will allow PC Cross-play now, but those XIV servers aren't only connected to the PC, they're connected to the PS3 and PS4 versions too, so what are the chances of Microsoft allowing THAT? Pretty minimal, at best. And it's just as unlikely that Yoshida will release a solo Xbox One version, or one that magically only connects to PC users and not Sony users.

Combine all that with the facts that the FFXIII games sold FAR less on the 360 than the PS3 despite balanced install bases, and the Xbox One's drastic loss of marketshare to the PS4, and there's literally no reason TO make an Xbox One version.

I think he has the right idea by sticking to his guns on cross platform play. This shows that game developers do have some leverage over platform holders. I would like to see more developers go for cross platform support.

Yeah, I'd like to be free of having to "follow your friends" to a console; I have 2 friends with X1s and over 7 with PS4s. Cross-platform Destiny raids? Nah.

It would be interesting to see the player interactions between those who own a Sony platform and those who own an Xbox platform. Could they get along? We'll find out on the next episode of Dra-transmission cut off
