Sony Gives Away 5 Free Days for PS+ Due to Outage - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 January 2015 / 5,875 Views

The PlayStation Network was down for several days last week due to a DDoS attack from hacking group Lizard Squad. Sony is giving back to PlayStation Plus members, by giving them a free five day extension to their membership. Sony will also be offering later this month a 10 percent discount code for total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store.

"Happy New Year!," said Sony Network Entertainment VP Eric Lempel. "Since access to PlayStation Network was impacted during the holidays, we wanted to show our appreciation for your patience by offering all PlayStation Plus members that had an active membership or free trial on December 25th a membership extension of five days. The extension will be automatically applied, so no action is necessary to receive the extension."

Ok so how does the 10% discount for "total cart purchases" work? Does it mean anything I bought from like DEC 24TH to JAN 5TH get a 10% discount credited to my PS account or that anything I buy the month of JANUARY get a 10% discount etc? Can anyone explain please?!?!..

I've been on PS+ almost since it was released due to being the best thing in gaming history. I have 150 PS3, 15 PS4, 60 VITA games all free basically thanks to PS+. How about they bring back the XMAS/NEW YEARS sales. I missed being able to buy The Evil Within for $29.99 due to the outage. Now it is back to $59.99. smh
Or how about doing a PS+ sale like they did in March of 2013. I got 15 months of PS+ for $29.99. That was AWESOME!

I can't actually log onto the store on my vita to check this discount :D "connection to the server has been terminated" guess 5 free days of psn+ is nice... that's like... €2.50 worth of psn+!

Awww man... wrote a big reply and managed to lose it. either way there are 7million psn+ users and it isn't actually 2.50 rebate to each of them, my maths was poor, from a 365 day psn+ card it's 1/73rd of it's cost or around 65cent which is closer to 4million total over everyone effected... well... not even because obviously people who have psvitas/ps3's couldn't get online to play games over the holidays either and those people didn't need to have psn+ to lose that right which means they get nothing for being inconvienced by this.
