Xbox One Vs. Xbox 360 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 1,417,021 – Xbox One

Gap change over last 12 months: 1,774,442

Total Lead: 2,985,235 - XOne

Xbox One Total Sales: 8,929,035

Xbox 360 Total Sales: 5,943,800

November 2014 is the 13th month of the Xbox One being on sale. The gap increased during the month when compared to the Xbox 360’s 13th month on sale. The gap increased by 1,417,021 units in favor of the Xbox One. The Xbox One currently leads by 2.98 million units.

Both consoles launched in November. The Xbox 360 launched in November 2005, while the Xbox One launched in November 2013. The Xbox One has sold 8.93 million units in its first 13 months, while its predecessor the Xbox 360 sold 5.94 million units.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure calling something doomed based on just one year on the market isn't really a good indication whether it's successful or not. Just look at the PS3 on its first year and look at it now.

MS has done some amazing work, even outpacing the 360. Next year will be more interesting though.

Congrats are in order

360 launched in 3 times as many Countries as the X1, had no next gen competition, and had a high failure rate.

X1 is soaring despite all the above.

X1 is doing good now and I agree that more countries and the lack of competition were big advantages for the 360 that the X1 didn't had. But the high failure rate didn't helped the 360. Of course, some people would buy replacements, but even more people wouldn't buy the console at all because half of the units were failing.
