PS3 continues to dominate the console sales. A new pricecut could potentionally bring the sales back to 2010 levels.
Back to last year sales could be even better... If you see Last Yaer was peak con PS3 sales.. and could have been even better without the PSN outage...
Console sales falling in wait of next gen. Microsoft even though down by a large percentage still holds more cards in their pockets than Sony in terms of consoles. They could still make substantial price cuts on their console bundles and still be making money. They are just waiting for the right moment to do it. Im assuming by holiday 2012 we will see some type of price cut....combine that with Halo 4....Then the flood gates open.
Im pretty positive that sony has room to do a price cut on the ps3 and still be making money. Halo 4 may add some sales to the 360, but everyone who will want the game probably already has a 360. Unless MS bundles H4 with the 360, I don't see the 360 selling much more from H4. I could be wrong though. We will just have to wait and see.
Sony started claiming back in '07 that they would finish this generation in front of MS, they weren't lying. They were smart enough to realize that nothing would stop the momentum from the Wii-Juggernaut.
They weren't lying, they were just wrong. they would finish "in front" of Microsoft? In what way? The 360 has an insurmountable software/peripheral/online sales and profit lead on the PS3. And Sony has conducted 3x the pricecuts on the hardware, with Microsoft making no attempt to match because they have no reason to. We are nearing the point where MS can slash their prices to spike sales to finish off the generation, a movie Sony can't afford to match. Like Sony, MS said they wouldn't lose this generation - but they actually have the financial leeway to back it up.
I'm just thinking, what the heck Microsoft is waiting for? If they lose holiday market this year, playstation has a chance to pass 360 this year! Not that, it matters but just thinking.
