GameStop Partners with Valve to Offer Steam Cards - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 14 May 2012 / 4,290 Views

GameStop has announced a new partnership with Valve. The U.S. retailer will be selling Steam Cards, as part of Valve's Steam Wallet initiative. They will be used as a means to purchase games from the Steam online store. There is a $20 and $50 Steam Card currently available for purchase at GameStop in store.

This is not the first step that GameStop has done to try to remain relevant in the current digital download market. It had expanded its PC download codes to more than 1,500 PC games last year. They had also purchased Stardock's Impulse download service, which is a competitor to Steam.

@ Millenium - Hah, now that you mention it. This website is starting to rape us with ads. I see 8 on this page alone.

Gamestop doesn't put much effort in their PC game market place. Looks like they have pretty much given up.
