Microsoft has released a report on their earnings for the third quarter of their 2012 fiscal year, which ended on March 31, 2012. Revenue for the entire company was $17.41 billion, a six percent increase from the prior year period. The Entertainment & Devices Division, which contains the Xbox 360, had revenue of $1.62 billion, "a decrease of 16% from the prior period due to a soft gaming console market."

Despite the decrease in sales Microsoft said the Xbox 360 has remained the bestselling console in the US for 15 consecutive month. Microsoft has announced new partnerships with television studios for its 40 million Xbox LIVE members.

"We continue to execute well across our businesses, and we are seeing robust demand for our enterprise products and services," said Kevin Turner, chief operating officer at Microsoft. "Our investments and offerings in the database platform and public, private, and hybrid cloud are helping our customers transform their operations to meet today’s evolving business demands."

Due to a soft console market or an increased focus on TV/Video services?

Not saying its a bad thing but gamers have limited time....if they are using Netflix on a console, that's time that could have been spent playing a game. Over time these people will buy less and less games.

I like how they say 40 million Xbox LIVE members and not Xbox live gold subscribers, wich are probably less than that.
