Closest thing to a perfect game I've ever played. Best game for Gameboy.

Well, as the title says this has got to be the closes thing to a perfect game. Its appropriate and fun for all ages. It has massive replayability, a great levelling system, its challenging but not impossible, and there are just the right number of pokemon.

You first start off and have to read through some boring speech about what pokemon are. Then you get to pick your name and your rivals name who you will compete with throughout the game. After this you go outside and walk towards the tall grass when Professor oak takes you into your lab. This is where the game gets good. He gives you the choice of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. If your cool you pick Charmander. You get first pick then your rival picks the pokemon which gives him the advantage (if you pick fire he picks water, etc). Then before you leave the room you have to battle your rival. Theres no real penalty for losing except half your cash, but if you win your pokemon levels up and you get a small amount of cash.

Okay then you do some walking to Varidian city (yeah all the cities are named after flowers I think) and go to the pokemart and bring a parcel back to Professor Oak and he rewards you with your pokedex which records your seen and caught pokemon.

Then you head back to varidian and you have the choice to battle your rival or keep heading north towards the forest. He's pretty easy to beat. After the forest you reach your first trainer brock who uses all rock pokemon so kick his ass with Bulbasaur's Ivy whip or squirtles bubble/water gun attack, or be a champ and beat his ass with your Charmander which is hard to do!

Okay so I'm obviously not going to walk through the entire game, that would be silly. Theres 8 gym leaders in total and a couple tough caves to explore. All you have to do is find what pokemon type each leader uses, and you use the opposite. Once you beat all 8 trainers go kick the elite four's ass and then beat your rival who has level 60+ pokemon.

Okay now for the best part of the game, the missingno trick. Talk to the old man in varidian city who teaches you how to catch pokemon. Make sure the item you want duplicted is in the 6th spot in your inventory. After you talk to him fly to Cinnibar Island and surf along the coastline of the island and you will battle a missingno pokemon. It will be a really high level but it has low defense and is easy to beat. You have 2 options. Catch it and give it a rare candy so it evolves into Kanghaskan or just kill it. Either way you will have about 1 million of whatever item was in your 6th spot of your inventory. Great for Master balls or rare candies.

Now go have fun, raise all your pokemon to lv 100 with rare candies and catch every pokemon with master balls!

So this game is extremely fun. Best game on the original gameboy. Its well made and great fun. If for some strange ass reason you haven't played it, but it for very cheap and enjoy it.

I won't give it a perfect score, because no game is perfect. But how about a nice 9.9?
