When you are using a mushroom or a turbo boost, jump when another person/driver/character is immediately in front of you. If you do it right, you should fly over their them.

Best Mario Kart, I cannot count the hours I've played this. Both solo and with friends and family. Even in the newer versions, the tracks ported from this one are the most fun.
Ah, I'd wish it was the N64 days all over again!
