It was the same with Devil May Cry, it was nearly tied in all 3 regions in its first week and went on to sellthe most in American and least in Japan. I expect MGS4 to sell the most in Europe, as a matter of fact. Message | Report |

Wow, you guys forget so quickly, and believe that first week means everything. If we had went by first week, Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) would have sold the most in Japan, but it ended up selling the least there. It will have decent legs in Europe, perhaps America, and Japan unlikely since that seems to be the trend for PS3 titles. And Fazz, adding a :P after what you write is like adding a =) at every opportunity (I assume you know who we're talking about). It's pretty annoying regardless. That said, don't pick on him. Lol why is everyone using that 'it's only been available for 2 days' excuse on every big title? I mean, most games in EU get release on a friday, while MGS 4 was relaesed on thursday. To answer your question NoMoreHalo, when the userbase is devoted to a game, it can mean a lot more than even userbase. A lot of things can mean more than userbase. For example, we all know that Metal Gear Solid 3 is the lowest selling game in the main series, despite launching during the holiday season and getting great reviews. A lot of this had to with the fact that it launched in 2004, when the hype for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Halo 2 was immense. These two large titles made MGS3 almost obscure to anyone but its fans, and its sales suffered. Metal Gear Solid 4 is a long anticipated game by fans of the PS3, even if not everyone is going to buy it. One example of this is that Super Smash Bros Melee sold better than the original on the Nintendo 64 despite the Gamecube having a lower userbase. The Gamecube had a high attach rate and Melee was hailed as one of the GC's top games, leading to its higher sales. Despite the much lower userbase, Metal Gear Solid 4 still has a devoted fanbase and a lot of hype behind it. And a bundle too. It might not do as well as the first two, but it can still sell a good amount and pass 4 milion. Sorry, that was a little long and winding. What can I say, it's my favorite Beatles song. Anyone else got the feeling that the sales expectations for this game are a litte high? I mean, fans who have been looking forward to this game are going to be looking at the reviews and they're great, but not exactly praising (It's hard to make a 9/10 not seem negative when there are a thousands complaints from the reviewer attempting to back it up). With the limited 5 million install base in the US, this killer app has a lot of weight on it (and I know several PS3 owners who flat out don't want the game). As my favorite game series, I want MGS4 to preform well, but there is just not a big enough install base yet. Message | Report |

I want the reg. edition box art to mgs4 because more people will have that one anyway,plus when halo 3 came out the limited edition box art wasn't put in the game database-only the reg. edition of it is in there. I think whoever put MGS4 in the game database wanted only the limited edition box art because that's what they'll have. It's only right to have the reg edition box art for MGS4 because that's how it always is on EVERY game added or have both with only one that has sales for it. Message | Report |

I definitely don't think it will get 1 mil 1st day. (as it doesn't have the Brawl, Mkwii, Gta4, Halo3 type popularity.) However, it should get over 1 mil 1st week. (a nice 1.4 or 1.5 mil.) Dark Odin, that's impossible, imo. (referring to your rediculously high numbers for its 1st weeks in each territory.) Getting over 1mil in Na sounds like a dream for the game, as Gta4 Ps3 barely got over that. I think in Europe it will launch in the 400k range not that high like you put it. In Japan, I can't say. The Ps3's userbase is so tiny and the sales are so pitiful weekly, but the Mgs series has been rising in popularity every release there. In America it will launch around Galaxy numbers for the 1st week. (650k) Expect good things though. Message | Report |

I believe that this is the first real Metal Gear to be either complete action, or stealth it's up to the player. Also, you can either play 3rd or first person right through the game. Lets look at history; all Metal Gear Games have been killers and amazing sellers too. Anyone who doubts this game is a MORON! Can't wait. I can't tell which is worse. That this game has what many people would call a very bad average review score, or that it's one of the highest rated PS3 games on the site. All user review scores on this site seem lower then the "metacritic" averages for games no matter the platform. Which is strange. Usually user reviews are always higher. I'd guess it has something to do with user reviews being so eaisly accessable from the front page. Message | Report |

here's an idea ioi. For any game with 0 sales and no release date, or a release date into the future, you should disable ratings. At least that will stop people rating games that aren't even out yet =) Message | Report |
