Great game! It should be quite cheap, so i recommend anyone who wants a great puzzle game to give it a go!

It's doing around 5.5k a week, so not too shabby. With digital sales, I can see this game being at 1.2-1.3 mil, probably closer to the former. I can see it manage to get 1.2 mil sales before the end of the year in retail sales.

Guarantee that this had a higher percentage of digital sales than most 3DS games. Many people, myself included, decided to download this so that the daily puzzles can be accessed without switching cartridges. This is still the only full retail game that I have downloaded.

The game probably lost 20% of its sales to the eShop combined with the fact that most hype is still surrounding Layton vs Ace Attorney. I don't expect it to match the previous game.

Surprisingly on target debut relative to the rest of the series in the US. Sadly, the huge disparity between sales Japanese and European sales of past entries will keep this title from coming anywhere near the numbers of the other entries even with good legs...

When was this released in the us? I checked on amazon.com and you can order the game so how come no us figures are up yet?

So any guesses for the lifetime sales? I'm thinking 0.5 to 0.6 million in Japan total.

Well, Layton's time at the top is over. N+c's worldwide release has given it the edge. A good show Layton.

No Layton game has launched with a console so how can it be determined if this was a success or not?
Message | Report
Salnax posted 30/03/2011, 06:33
As a 3DS game, this is a huge sucess. As a Layton game, it's a bit disappointing. Hopefully it will leg out to half a million lifetime in Japan.

Holy Layton. I applaud you. A lot of games cant sell this much in 2 weeks, and you did that... as a launch title. ILY LEVEL 5

@ Theconduit. Also, Zelda's 2nd week in Japan was 37k. This should overtake Zelda in weekly sales next week and probably in total sales by its third week.

This is currently the best selling 3DS title of all time!! :0P

The best selling Wii titlwe on launch was Zelda with 145k sales. Unlike the Wii launch the 3DS has a better variety of games resulting in more balanced sales. Plus it did not launch with a big title like the Wii with Zelda so yes software did sell.

And 3DS launch best seller does 120k? Are people buying the portable without SW? Wasn't SW that sells HW? I'm puzzled...
