Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rayman Origins will be released in Japan after all

Tagged games:

Thanks to region locking I thought I'd never be able to get Rayman Origins on the 3DS, but today I found out that the game will indeed be released in Japan after all.

It will come for the 3DS, PS Vita and PS3. And because it's UBI's 25th anniversary the game will cost the record-low price of 2500 Yen ($32) on each platform! Usually new games cost double that!

I'm actually toying with the idea of buying it twice (3DS and PS3) to show my appreciation for that step.

PS3 exclusive in Japan! Wonder why it isn't on Wii ...

Maybe it will come later... But maybe not.
Pretty much everybody seems to have abandoned the Wii by now.

Man you are so lucky. Rayman Origins is easily the best platformer of 2011. I am surprised no Wii release as well it doesn't make sense to not support Nintendo considering their strong position. Of course I realize Wii is dropping like a rock but it shouldn't cost all that much to bring over the Wii version from NA.

I think with a good marketing campaign Rayman Origins could do very well in Japan. The country is far more platformers friendly. Trust me you are going to love it I couldn't put it down for two days then I had beaten it lol.

They'd want to make the project even more profitable, even though 1 million sales on three platforms was enough.

Maybe not. 2D platformers are pretty popular in Japan, and both the 3DS and Vita are lacking in that department. This could be Rayman's great intro to the Japanese market.
