@Reasonable

Because prior to the release, people always use ToV as an example on how the sale number of SO4 PS3 would destroy the sale number of SO4 360.

Spirit Tracks is being under-tracked here somewhat. Famitsu resports that it has sold 571,000 units in Japan so far, and this is just from last week. For VGchartz, it says the game has sold 540,000 units in Japan, and that's including the current week sales.

nah madworld will at least sell 15k, simply because that's what they already shipped. Games that sell that low usually have good legs, but the price collapse is incoming and it won't get another shipment.

@XanderZane

Why would these ports sell more? Clearly a fair number of local gamers bought a 360 for the titles with PS3 picking up those who held off.

The unanswerable question is how the title would have sold it released same time/content on both platforms - personally I'm pretty sure the PS3 sales would have easily outsold 360.

MS played a fairly successful game of denying access to these titles initially on PS3 locally and it helped them get past 1M units in Japan plus reduced sales of these titles on PS3.

However, selling that much after already selling what it sold on 360 tells me that the local market would clearly have preferred the PS3 platform had it had an equal choice (and let's face it not been led to believe, as per the initial marketing, that these titles were now exclusive to the 360).

When a game gets 160 K plus on another platform first it's not magically going to sell more somewhere else - that 160 K or whatever the final tally for 360 was is gone.

I remember leaked numbers for Madworld being 5k first day, 25% sellthrough. I guess they were way off. I only expected Madworld to do 8k lifetime in Japan anyways lol With 4.6k first week, it still might not make it haha

What?? Didn't MadWorld sold 5000 units on the first day? Or it's just my mind?

Silver-Tiger says:
Who said Star Ocean 4 International is failure? 108,600 isn't really bad and it's even higher than Ar Tonelico 3 sales.

It's a failure when the XBox 360 version sold 160K its first week and the PS3 hasn't even reached that mark after 2 week. What's worse is the XBox 360 only had about 1 million units sold in Japan when Star Ocean IV was released. The PS3 has 4.7 million and couldn't even sell more then 160K copies it's first week. That's a HUGE failure to me. The game bombed badly. Even with the extra content and higher rating.

Good for namco bandai, god eater is a certifiable success... too bad about Zangeki, that looks to be a real fun game, i was expecting a bit more though i guess its not really that bad.

Wow, they expect DQ to sell quite well if 1.178 mill is only 73% of shipments so far

Madworld sold less in its first week than on its first day... ehh that defies all logic...

For some reason I thought MH3 was still in the top 50. Darn.

What is this freaking God Eater ?!

NoirSon (on 19 February 2010)

Dang, I was hoping MadWorld would at least get above 8k and closer to 10k in the first week. Zangeki no Reginleiv, did ok, hopefully it will stick around in the top twenty for a few weeks.

Still confused as to why Tomodachi Collection is STILL selling like it is. Was there a national edict in Japan that at least one DS game, has to stay in the top ten for 15 weeks or more at a time?

Wow at God Eater.

Son1x (on 19 February 2010)

Wow, Sacred 2 did pretty good. God Eater has a nice second week too.
EoE is holding up and I was hoping that AT III would do a little better.
