Rockstar Says Next Game After GTA 6 Won't Take Eight Years to Make - News

Rockstar Games has more than doubled in size while it was developing Grand Theft Auto VI and studio heads Phil Hooker and Aaron Garbut speaking with Bloomberg says the next game says the next game won't take eight years to complete.
The company had 2,441 staff when Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in 2018 and by 2026 it had grown to 4,711 employees across 12 offices. 4,020 of the employees work in development and quality assurance, while 690 are in publishing.
"The engine, the tools and the team we’ve built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly,” Hooker said. "I feel confident that we can build on top of this and go more sideways than upwards to build more compelling content."
Garbut added, "We foundationally changed a lot of stuff on this project. But now it’s done, and we’re not going to rip it apart."
The two compare this to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which was made in under a year following the release of Grand Theft Auto III as it was built on the work already done. Though, Rockstar's next game will very unlikely be done in such a short amount of time.
Rockstar feels GTA 6 is the culmination of decades of work as many of the studio have been working together for a long time.
"The last 30 years has been practice for where we got to here," Garbut said. "The team and us as individuals have been doing it for so long that there’s a sort of shared understanding, shared knowledge and a sort of shortcut to questions."
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.

They are going to have to find new ways to play games. By the time GTA 8 comes out, most of us will have arthritis and won't be able to use a controller .

Bull shit. Theyre going to milk online for another 10 years. The ps6 will get a remastered edition and that game will last the duration of the ps6 life cycle, till ps7 launches.
