AMD and Xbox have announced AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) Upscaling 4.1 is coming to Xbox devices starting with the Xbox ROG Ally handhelds and coming soon to Xbox Series X and S consoles.

Also announced is FSR Diamond, which will be available on the next-generation of Xbox, Project Helix, "to push next generation gaming even further."

"At Xbox, we’re building a gaming platform designed to meet players where they are and make it easier for creators to reach them," said Xbox chief technology officer Scott Van Vliet.

"AMD has been an important partner in that journey for more than two decades. Together, our teams have been pushing gaming forward across Xbox and Windows, from the silicon at the heart of our consoles and handhelds, to technologies like DirectX, Advanced Shader Delivery, and AutoSR that helps developers get more from the hardware and deliver better experiences for our players."

AMD on FSR and its partnership with Sony sated, "A big part of this journey has been our partnership with Sony through Project Amethyst. Together, we’re exploring what’s possible when advanced graphics rendering meets machine learning and turning that work into technology that makes games look better and run better.

"That work is at the heart of AMD FSR Upscaling 4.1 on AMD Radeon RX 6000, RX 7000 and RX 9000 Series graphics, QSSR on PlayStation 5, and PSSR on PlayStation 5 Pro."

This is a huge asset for Xbox. Although I suspect it will be a somewhat light version, it should more or less resolve major image quality issues going forward in 60fps games. And by resolve I mean present a really stable & clean 1200p like image in the worst of cases. Right now many games look noisy and like 900p

You're talking about frame generation which developers can already do with FSR3... there should be no concerns around less optimisation.
