Sega Removes Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition From Stores - News

Sega and Creative Assembly have announced it is pulling Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition from stores due to player complaints over the use of AI, performance issues, and bugs.

The original game will be reinstated while Sega works on fixing the remaster.

"We're aware that Total War: Shogun 2 - Complete Edition has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards," said Sega. "We've seen your feedback, comments, and reviews. We agree that the current experience is not where it needs to be.

"As a result we are working with platform holders to temporarily remove the game from sale and to reinstate the original game while we investigate the issues. Existing owners will still be able to access and play the game.

"We are working closely with our development partner to identify the causes of these problems, deliver improvements, and ensure Shogun 2 – Complete Edition meets the quality standards players expect from Total War."

What the hell has happened to that studio?

That's what I've been wondering too. I guess their monetization model must not have held up with rising development costs - that, or they've not been profitable enough for the publisher. Still feels quite bizarre to me - it doesn't seem that niche, and the games have been heavily monetized.

"--has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards."

Yes, of course it has, that's why the game was released like this in the first place.
