CD Projekt RED has announced The Witcher III: Wild Hunt Remastered, which will be available as a free upgrade for those who already own the game. It will launch on September 29 for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net.
The remaster features improved visuals, updated controls, quality of life improvements, and more. The previously released expansions - Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine - will also be included in the remaster.
A first look trailer of the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion was also released. It will launch separately in 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Once I saw the list of improvements, I feared it would have to be bought again - but no, they're sticking to their roots and releasing it as a free update! This is exactly how it should be done. This absolutely puts lower-effort remasters, i.e. almost all of them, to shame.
EDIT: Actually the one bad part about this is that the base game without the DLC is no longer available, so if you wanted just the base game, this is a massive price hike. Still, seems like a fair deal to me, at least in the long run. I'd prefer having more options, but it's not terrible.
That is one hell of a list of improvements. CDP really trying to get back in people's good graces after that launch fiasco on Cyberpunk.
Can anyone confirm whether or not "available as a free upgrade for those who already own the game" pertains to all versions? It appeared to me that the Switch version was not mentioned/included in the original statement made by CDPR. maybe its ommission was a typo?
I can understand why the Switch couldn't play the upgrade, but if installed on Sw2 I would think it should count...whether or not CDPR is comitting to it or not is the question.
Songs of the past is also coming to Switch 2. You forgot to mention that.
Oh free upgrade is dope, was expecting I'd have to hesitantly buy this. Still a bit of a weird prioritization, but if it actually does turn out better then hell yeah
