This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 1.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June 2025 and the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup.

July 2025 is the 2nd month the Nintendo Switch 2 has been available for. During the latest month, the Switch 2 has outsold the Switch 1 by 0.88 million units when you align the launches. The Switch 2 is now ahead of the Switch 1 by 3.95 million units.
The 2nd month for the Switch 2 is July 2025, while for the Switch 1 it is April 2017. The Switch 2 has sold 7.04 million units, while the Switch 1 sold 3.08 million units during the same timeframe.
The Nintendo Switch 1 sold 151.35 million units to date. The Switch 2 is currently 144.31 million units behind the lifetime sales of the Switch 1.

3DS was successful, though it would definitely appear as an outlier on the comparison graph. All of the above systems either had an exceptionally strong start or exceptionally strong legs.
Yeah I just kept the Nintendo platforms that sold over 100 million for this comparison.
These are the highest selling Nintendo consoles compared to the newest. You don't want to crowd it too much by putting every single system. That would make it harder to read.
Yeah, I'm aware of that. I just couldn't help but say that the Wii U and 3DS's absence on the chart makes it as if they hadn't existed
