Switch seems to be way down, but since most of it was the big boost it got during the summer from TotK and almost none during the holidays, it looks much worse than it actually is.
NSW didn’t get a holiday boost in Europe last year? I thought it was only Japan where sales didn’t boost? Nearly 7mil Q3F24 NSW units was a lot larger than many were anticipating.
Japan was absolutely flat, but the other regions were also underwhelming to some degree. Mind you, I'm not just counting on November and December, but also the leadup to them, so including September and October. And in September through November, Switch was pretty underwhelming last year (December was fine, though).
I do agree however that "almost none" was a pretty poor choice of words outside of Japan. Should have said weak fall sales instead, that would have been much more to the point. And the actual idea was to point out that sales won't drop anywhere near 40% this year because the gap to last year will be much smaller this coming months.
Btw, did you notice that the Switch is now starting to sell better in the EU than in the US - but still worse than Japan?
these are weird times for the industry, though the weirdest part is how NSW is seeing smallest YoY declines (relative to percentage) of the big three systems. This is despite NSW being in its twilight year, and the others in the fourth lol.
