I mean...if the developers didn't care about this game, why should I? That's just always my first thought when I run across something this lazily constructed.

I feel the laziness behind the game from the very first seconds of footage here. There's immediately picture pop-up. Most of the game's world appears to be composed of wasted space that not only offers nothing of interest to do, but also nothing of interest to see or hear or learn or feel. The character animations look like stock footage. The A.I. makes Alexa seem smart. The locations all have generic names like "Wheeler's Sporting Goods" and "Overton Theater". The enemies are flying grey vampires created by science because that sounds preposterous enough to be cool. The character bio for Layla that's shown here I think is TRYING to come off as self-aware, but actually just seems like they didn't care and went for 'generic sci-fi superhero' because, like everything else about Redfall, it doesn't matter. The dialogue is chock full of idiotic observations like "There was something hidden in the middle of that heart." The kill screen is "YOU DIED". The big super-cool sci-fi guns look more like super soakers and other water guns than convincing weaponry. Every single thing about this game just feels half-assed to me, if even that. I don't even have to play this game to know that the people who made it simply want your money and that's all there is to it. Yeesh.

Congrats on acquiring exclusivity, Microsoft. Now only your name will be associated with this work of art.

Why does the projector not actually projecting light bother me so much? Maybe it's because this has such a simple solution, blocking the character while the cutscene plays, such a simple tweak they didn't bother with.

Perhaps because it's an example of how the little details were just overlooked by the devs.

I should also make one important correction: you do carry progress over (as I did after this session). I'd just wanted to make a new character and hadn't tinkered w/ Layla yet. Not sure why I just rambled and gave a false impression about that point in the vid, but I was distracted with a few things on my end. I'm prone to give a pre-canned affirmative responses and say "screw it, onto a point that just came to my mind."

Anyways...

Out of all the numbered VGChatz vlogs/streams, this was our longest recorded session to date. Just wanted to emphasize that part of Paul's opening disclaimer. :)
