Absolutely Every PS5 is Sold, Says PlayStation CEO

Absolutely Every PS5 is Sold, Says PlayStation CEO - Sales

by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 June 2021 / 5,684 Views

Sony launched the PlayStation 5 in November 2020 and the console has quickly sold out.

PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan in an interview with TASS was asked about how well the PS5 has sold in its launch and as expected the PS5 has sold out everywhere it is available. He is working right now to increase the supply of the console to try to meet the high demand.

"Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold," said Ryan.

"And everything will be sold in Russia, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand."

The PlayStation 5 is now available worldwide.

RELEASE those sales numbers Sony! I know the PS5 broke tons of sale records.

It likely did not because this console is more supply constrained than PS4 but still had basically a global launch. Otherwise they would have already released that information like Microsoft did with Xbox Series even though it probably sold way less units than the PS5.

MS didn't release the numbers, they said outsold X1, they said they wouldn't reveal the numbers even if they outsold PS5.

One interview with 12 questions and 12 answers. Do we really need a new article for every question/answer? You gave the TASS link in each of them, why can't you just post the whole interview and source it back? It's getting to be like the old list websites where you have to click through pages upon pages just for clicks of little to no info.

I agree they shouldn't all be split into different articles. But this one should at least get a pass since this is a sales-oriented website. The numbers would be nice though.

It drives clicks, which drives ad revenue. I agree that it is somewhat annoying, but we do have to recognize the way making money with websites works. iMO, this is nowhere close to as bad as the list/slideshow websites. The way it is done here is just about the right balance between the interests of readers and the writer/website.

He’s not wrong tho, here in Australia most retailers already sold out stock for early 2021 and demand is still extremely high.

I heard is the same in all regions.

Shares are at a 19 year high. Analysts are bullish on Sony though, because they're switching to more reliable sources of revenue streams and cutting costs. Could be worth it.

I am dumb, I had bought some at 68 a few minutes after the PS5 reveal, and sold it at 74 a few days later, because it was not looking like the announcement had brought any real boost on the share price on June.

I think the shares are still going to evaluate some, but you should have bought before the release.

"should have" is an expression and feeling to forget and reject from our mind when we want to trade on the market. It only hurts. The only one thing we can do is to assimilate the lesson. I am still a too fragile hand who sell too fast, but so far I have never lost a transaction. Only lost potential big gain.

Sure. Will rephrase. I don't think it will evaluate much more on the next few months, I would buy a little closer to the next financial report. Unless you expect shares to drop a little because of the RD of PS5 and profit being lower due to the consoles selling at loss..

I have every days my eyes on Nintendo and SONY, but to me they are currently too high and over my "safety margin" for buying, with a good probability to extract without damage if it doesn't go well. Nintendo and SONY often have periods where they decrease a lot for no fundamental reason.

Breaking news: Video game system sells out at launch during holiday season. Lol. We all knew this would happen. Even Microsoft can say the same.

But I think he is lying. Because aren't there new units at the factory that haven't left yet? Lol.
