Quantum Error Lead Development Platform is PS5 - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 August 2020 / 3,433 Views

TeamKill Media's cosmic horror first-person shooter, Quantum Error, is coming to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. However, Dakoda Jones and Micah Jones have stated the lead development platform for the game is the PS5 and afterwards it will be optimized for the PS4.

"At the moment our focus is primarily on the PS5, so at first everything is going to be calibrated for that platform and we won’t do most of the optimizing for the PS4 until we are close to being finished," they told GamingBolt.

Dakoda Jones and Micah Jones added that they are aiming the game to take between 15 and 20 hours to complete, however, it is still "too early to know exactly."

Quantum Error will launch for the PS5 and PS4 later this year.

Wonder how they'll be handling other released versions, because the devs haven't said they wouldn't port this to other systems, which has me wondering just what on earth they are going to do.

Smaller studios sometimes have to focus their attention and slowly release cross platform. Probably what's going on here.

but cross gen games are so bad and never utilize the more powerful hardware

As a dig at Sony fans that comment kinda fails because these developers do not develop for first party, also it is a wise decision to go cross gen for a non first party studio, they rely more on having the widest consumerbase potentially buying their product.

That does not conflicted with the message " cross gen are held back game design " because this games were developed for high end (PS5) and then later on will be ported to low end.

"dig at Sony fans" -- how telling that it was seen that way LOL I wasn't aware gooper and HG populated the entirety of Sony fans

"That does not conflicted with the message " cross gen are held back game design "" -- If you don't think this conflicts with it then your argument is even weaker than anyone imagined. You're talking about a next gen game made with plans to port it to PS4, much weaker hardware. If this isn't going to limit what they can do on the PS5 version then what exactly are you worried or upset about?

You are still confuse with what Cross gen is, this games is like The Witcher 3 . The games are developed for PS5 solely and high end PC. ANd if there is time, budget and more people and possibilities it will be ported to weaker machine. So it will take high end spec as priority and capabilities without holding back by old gen machine.

No, it’s coming to PS4. It’s confirmed. It’s absolutely nothing like Witcher. In the case of Witcher, they didn’t know while making it that they were eventually doing a Switch port. In Quantum’s case they know they’re making a PS4 port.

If you are really ok with this game then you should have no issues with cross gen games. Or just drop the charade and admit it’s only a problem when MS is doing it lol

Yes it coming to whatever developer wanted to ported, does not changed fact the games are made for PS5 in mind using the capabilities and new tech for PS5. That's different from developing games for old gen then ported back to new gen. Yes you are still confused.

I will correct myself:Your comment just fails as a dig in general and it is highly ironic you only reacted to that first part with ''how telling it is''.

The game is being made on PS5 with the knowledge that it will also need to run on PS4. It’s a cross gen game. Somehow you think this game can be designed around next gen capabilities while also being ported to PS4, but in the case of something like Halo Infinite, it cannot be anything more than an HD version of Xbone games.

Just be consistent in your incorrect worrying, is all.

Again it's not the same on developing on current base gen and developing on high end as base.

If it’s that simple then you shouldn’t give a crap either way. Not going to bother engaging you on this any further, there’s already a thread I can read for laughs

This is cross gen with a deliberate delay on the PS4 title. It’s the same thing as Xbox: build high and scale down. Except this is shadier with holding back one where as Xbox is day 1

Or holding back one instead of holding back two for them to release on the same date.

Fair enough. Still cross gen it seems with a twist.

It's a variable of cross gen yes with 2 variations of one product but we shall see and wait on how much those will be different performance/graphics wise.

Xbox is day 1 for titles made by Microsoft. Every other gaming studio is allowed to release the games however they want. I sure as hell don't want Sony or MS telling independent studios how to make their games or release them thats their business.

He never said they were holding it back, he said that they wouldn’t optimise for PS4 until they were close to being finished.
