PS4 will likely need to sell 125 million to make up for XBOne's slack. If it can, 8th gen has it in the bag. If it can't, every million is gonna count, it'll be close.
Really makes you wonder where XB1 will end it’s life. I was originally thinking close to NES numbers, but 50M seems too high of a prediction now.
Edit: even* 50M seems too high
no, it's not, xbox will reach 50m maybe even 55, this year is 1.5m until now the last year was 2m until this point so a little bit behind but last year total was 7m now it will be around 5 to 6m so with this year xbox one will be around 47m the next will do around 4m to 5m so 52m with the next year and 2 years with 2-3m it can get to 60M lifetime

It's only 500k behind because of strong promotions late winter/early spring, which kept it afloat for a while. But right now it's loosing by about 30-40k a week over last year, which is close to half the sales from last year. And with the anticipation into the Xbox Next growing, that gap should only get wider with time, not narrower.
@Bofferbrauer2 yes, maybe you are right but still .. 50m is 100% sure with the next year .. 55m is fully possible lifetime and 60m wit a little luck is also a possibility at best case scenario
By the speed it's selling compared to last year, I expect the XBO to reach about 3.5-4M this year, awfully close the Wii U numbers. It all depends on how well Black Friday will go this year.
Last year, that week alone sold over 1/7th of the whole yearly XBO sales, meaning over 1M. I don't expect this year's BF to come even close to that. No other week of the whole holiday season even made it past 500k, so BF is crucial for it's sales. I expect some 650k BF and 200-250k weekly median sales in the weeks after that until the end of the year, so 1.65-1.9M sales that holiday season, which is about 1M less than last year.
They'll end up roughly equal in lifetime sales I reckon, with PS4's advances over PS3 being cancelled out by Xbone falling well short of 360.
That was my intuition as well, but the 8th gen lead is still higher than I thought it would be at this point. Now I'm thinking the 8th gen will be ahead by at least 5M by the end.
