Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. These charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.
PlayStation Vita Vs. PSP Global:
Gap change in latest month: 818,423 - PSP
Gap change over last 12 months: 11,966,617 - PSP
Total Lead: 27,567,346 – PSP
PlayStation Vita Total Sales: 12,260,119
PSP Total Sales: 39,827,465
In the latest month the gap grew another 818,423 units in favor of the PSP, while the overall gap has grown by 11.97 million units over the last 12 months. The PSP currently leads by a total of 27.57 million units.
Both handhelds launched in December in Japan - the PSP in December 2004 and the Vita in December 2011. The Vita has sold 12.26 million units in its first 44 months on sale, while the PSP sold 39.83 million units.

Does this include the Vita TVs?
I don't know but would it make that much of a difference anyway?
Ermm i think so, but the sales have been really low for the Vita TV anyway. That being said sales could of risen since the huge price drop.

The only systems tracking above their last gen counterparts are PS4 and XB1. Dedicated handhelds are dead.
I think you need to look up the definition of dead. Looking at the front page of this site, I would say the opposite.
A combined 66million units sold between 3DS and Vita... :< That is almost as much as either the ps3/xbox360 sold last gen total, it is over 6 times either the X1 or Wii-u. Don't really know what else to say.
