Interesting.. Aligning the numbers we have:
PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 22,389,944
PlayStation 3 Total Sales: 12,343,998
Xbox 360 Total Sales: 9,688,719
Xbox One Total Sales: 12,503,922
So technically after 18 months the PS3 was ahead of the X360 and just slightly behind the Xbone?
I assumed it was a well known fact that PS4 stomped XB360 in aligned launch.
Broke the 10 million milestone (as it did with the Xone), the Xone and PS3 have almost identical numbers would like to see a comparison, since PS4 and Wii are compared.
Those are a lot of millions...
Thought it would be steeper :-)!
So, according to VGC this month the gap is rise... globally... but in the US and in JP is confirmed that PS3 in April 2008 sold more than PS4 in April 2015... well, we have the Europe, Sony land... but seem strange how only Europe can close the gap...
The 360 sold quite well in Europe, thus decreasing the potential for the PS3, which launched terribly late over here. The Xone on the other hand doesn't sell to much in Europe, so the PS4 dominates the market. It isn't rocket science Europe is Sony Land and the market share on the continent tops 66% and there is no wii competitor anymore.
I think sales will be reasonably close from here on out. Microsoft is taking back some ground in the US, and Japan sales are pretty mediocre. PS4 certainly had much much better pre release hype than the PS3, but I think sales will be similar overall, with the PS4 maybe selling 10-15 million more units. Unless the helmet thing (morpheus I think? Hopefully they'll come up with a different name, cause when I hear this one I just think of the bald dude from the matrix) takes off, I don't see a huge surge for the PS4.
